In the middle of Dec, 2010, co-president Dr. Sun lead the team of four experts from our cancer center visited the South Texas Accelerated Research Therapeutics (START). Dr. Cao, Junning, Dr. Hu, Xichun from Medical Oncology Department, Dr. Cheng Xi, director of International Affaire Office also visited the center. South Texas Accelerated Research Therapeutics (START) directs clinical trials of novel anticancer agents using a high quality and innovative information technology infrastructure to ensure accurate and rapid clinical trials in a setting that emphasizes personalized and compassionate clinical care. START’s head office is located in San Antonio, Texas, in the heart of the South Texas Medical Center. With centers located in San Antonio, Texas and Madrid, Spain, START conducts the world’s largest Phase I medical oncology program – putting more than 400 patients per year on Phase I trials. Patients travel from all over the world to participate in one or more of our Phase I drug trials. Head of Administrative Department Ms. Cavazos Aracely show the team around the center.
Later, Co-president Dr. Sun and Vise-president Dr. Ye and Dr. Cheng Xi joined the GAP (Global Academic Programs) conference hosted by M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The Center for Global Oncology (CGO) takes MD Anderson's mission to eliminate cancer beyond our Houston campus to Texas, the nation and the world. Global Academic Programs is the component of the CGO that builds relationships focused on research and education with premier academic, health and government entities that share this vision. Together with the Sister Institutions and partners they are forming a powerful research, education, clinical care and prevention network that allows them and other team members to further MD Anderson's and the world mission of Making Cancer History?.
These Two visits laid the foundation for future communication and further International Academic Communication.
