The International Symposium for Radiation Research and Medical Physics was held in Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center from May 30 to June 2, 2011. This symposium is under the sponsorship of Institute of Radiation Medicine Fudan University，F(xiàn)udan University Shanghai Cancer Center， NASA Space Radiation Program USA,  GSI Germany。Over 50 international experts and 70 Chinese experts attended this conference. The symposium featured multi-disciplinary studies and provided a forum for scientific researchers to exchange their ideas and discuss recent scientific data and findings including but not limited to the effects of space radiation and its risk to astronaut health, the fundamental radiobiological effects and its molecular mechanisms, the recent development in radiation dosimeter and the advances on the radiation application from medical physics to the clinical therapy.
