In order to actively respond to the Belt and Road initiative, strengthening the academic exchanges and cooperation between institutions. On January 28th , 2019 Andrey Kaprin,the Director-General of National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation(NMRRC)visited FUSCC. After months of communication and negotiation, FUSCC and NMRRC reached a preliminary consensus on cooperation. In the afternoon of August 17th , 2019, during the National Oncology Congress (CCO) period, Chongqing Cancer Hospital along with FUSCC launched a signing ceremony with NMRRC in the beautiful mountain city of Chongqing. It was presided over by Wei Zhang, Vice President of Chongqing Cancer Hospital, Professor Xiaomao Guo, President of FUSCC, Professor Zhen Chen, Vice-President of FUSCC, Ying Wang, Secretary-General of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, Academician Andrey Kaprin, Director-General of NMRRC, Professor Yongzhong Wu, President of Chongqing Cancer Hospital and others concerned attended the signing ceremony.
During the meeting, Vice President Wei Zhang of the Chongqing Cancer Hospital, introduced the leaders of both China and Russia and warm welcomed Academician Andrey Kaprin’s visit. Afterwards, on behalf of FUSCC, President Xiaomao Guo signed a cooperation and exchange agreement with NMRRC representative. According to the agreement, China and Russia will carry out academic exchanges and joint research project in oncology, radiation oncology, urology and proton therapy.
President Xiaomao Guo pointed out that this year is the 70th anniversary of Sino-Russian diplomatic relationships, which is of great significance to people from both countries. The FUSCC-NMRRC framework cooperation in cancer prevention and control promotes the health construction of the Belt and Road initiative. We expected to strengthen the exchange and cooperation in cancer preventions, medical technology, joint projects, talent training, and build up the regional cancer prevention systems, standardize cancer treatment and patient service to serve for more cancer patients in China and Russia.
