Department of Musculoskeletal Oncology
Department of Musculoskeletal Oncology in Fudan University Shanghai Cancer, separated from original department of Gastric Cancer and Sarcoma Surgery, and established in November 2016. We are committed to helping patients with various types of skeletomuscular tumor. Comprehensive and multi-disciplinary treatment is our first principle when giving out medical advice.
Type of cancer we treat:
1.Bone Tumor (Spine Tumor):
Over two-thirds of any kind of late-staged cancer can occur metastasis or invasion of orthopedic structure. We operate on either primary osteosarcoma, or secondary bone tumor with risks of osteopathic events, especially for tumor located in spine.
2.Soft tissue sarcoma:
Soft tissue sarcoma often requires expert pathologic diagnosis, surgical and medical treatment and rehabilitation for its best possible outcome. FUSCC has the most prestigious pathology department in the nation. Our principle of barrier resection as radical surgery for primary or recurrent sarcoma has been proved statistically to be able to increase the local control and extend the overall survival. Moreover, functional reconstruction and plastic repair can be guaranteed after resection of the tumor.
3.Melanoma:
Melanoma in Chinese population, different from those in western countries, have characteristics as more acral type, deeper Breslow thickness, more ulceration rate, higher prevalence of lymph node involvement and much poorer outcome. As the earliest surgical melanoma center in China, we promote standard surgical treatment including wild local dissection, sentinel node biopsy, lymphonectomy and metastasectomy. We also offer chemotherapy, target therapy and immunotherapy to advanced melanoma and encourage patients failed in current available medicine participate in clinical trial with new modality or compounds.
4.Others:
Other type cancer we treated includes skin cancers, retroperitoneal sarcoma, gastrointestinal GIST.
