The endoscopy department of Tumor hospital was founded in 1978. It is the earliest professional department established with tumor characteristics in China.
Currently, this department has one associate professor, two attending physicians with master degree, one resident and four nurses. We have the five advanced electronic gastroscopes, such as Japanese Olympus 260, four hosts, five colonoscopes, one electronic duodenoscope, four electronic bronchoscopes, one three-dimensional endoscopic ultrasound diagnostic system with small probe, one multi-functional microwave apparatus, one high-frequency surgical treatment system and one German intelligent argon beam surgical system.We perform gastroscopy, colonoscopy, electronic nasopharynx, laryngoscopy, bronchoscopy and ultrasound endoscopy examinations for more than 10,000 people each year. More than 3,500 cases of various endoscopic treatments are performed every year. We performed more than 5,000 cases of painless gastroscopy. As a tumor featured endoscopic department, we are experienced at pre-cancerous lesions and early cancer diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant lesions under digestive and respiratory tract endoscopy. Currently we are capable of performing a variety of endoscopic resection of vocal cord polyps, esophageal papilloma, gastrointestinal polyps, precancerous lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, implantation of nutrition catheter, endoscopic submucosal tumor biopsy smear diagnosis, endoscopic spraying hemostasis, endoscopic preoperative clip localization, various anastomotic stricture incision, dilation of balloon and strip dilator, and stent implantation for stenosis or obstruction caused by tumor, et al under microwave, argon beam and high-frequency cautery. Our procedure and technique of colonoscopy effectively reduced the patients’ pain, shortened the examination time, and 99% reached ileocecum, which won the first prize of clinical medicine science and technology achievements from Shanghai Medical University
