Dr. Hu received his MD in 1997 from the Second Military Medical University, Shanghai, and served there through 2001. In order to solid his biomedical research background, he pursued his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2004 from Institue of Biochemisty, China Academy of Sciences, Shanghai. Afterwards, he went to Yale cancer center and Harvard Medical schol and finished his postdoctoral training in 2010. Currently, Dr. Hu is Professor in Tumor Immunology in Institutes of Biomedical Sciences & Shang Cancer Center, Fudan University.

Using complement as a model system Dr. Hu applies ideas and methods embodied in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, computer science and medicinal chemistry to study tumorigenesis and tumor therapy. In addition, Dr. Hu is also dedicating to dissect the underlying mechanisms for tumor metastasis and drug resistance which account for the major cancer-associated deaths.

Dr. Hu has published over 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals including Nature Medicine, Blood, Cancer Research, Journal of Immunology, FASEB J and JBC as first or corresponding author, and applied 7 international patents as well.

Dr. Hu is the recipient of Junior Investigator Award, American Heart Association (AHA), U.S.A, and Travel Award, Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (FOCIS), and awarded New Century Excellent Talents by Ministry of Health of China, Professor of Special Appointment (Eastern Scholar), and Shanghai Pujiang Talent by Shanghai Municipality.
